French Prime Minister François Fillon has decided that Autism will be the National Cause of 2012 (“Grande Cause Nationale”).
Speaking at the French House of Representative (“Assemblée Nationale”) on Dec. 21st 2011, he declared: “This distinction is a message of hope for the persons with autism and their family. By awarding this National cause, we want to tell them that we will fight together the long-lasting ignorance and the prejudice about autism in our country. Thus, we will fulfill our collective duty which is to show to each person with autism that he/she is entitled to the most absolute respect and to an integration in our social life”.

Many thanks to the Representative Daniel Fasquelle for his tenacity and his long lasting support to the autism cause. Congratulations to non-profit organizations that have worked for months to make it happen.
Yet, surprisingly, none of the 80 articles referenced mentionned the struggle with the documentary “Le Mur” !
Update – Dec. 23rd: our sister organization “Collectif Soutenons Le Mur” has issued an official statement in French acknowledging the decision and stating that they will remain vigilant and will continue to push for real autism rights in France.
