This version is an English subtitled version of the French movie “Le Mur ou la psychanalyse à l’épreuve de l’autisme” as released by Sophie Robert and Autistes Sans Frontières in September 2011.
This 52 minutes documentary is the result of 4 years of investigation among psychiatrists and psychoanalysis practitioners in France. It evidences the perception and the bad care of children with autism in France. As a reminder, most of these professionals are heads of pedo-psychiatric departments in major French hospitals.
Sophie Robert has met over 40 professionals in France and gathered more than 60 hours of dailies. Yet, three professionals interviewed in this documentary have sued Sophie Robert and request the documentary to be banned by the court.

You have got to be kidding me. These so called DOCTORS are MONSTERS!
I here the message of the movie. I see that some of these analists, are really lost as to what Autism is, and they sincerely seem to believe they are right. They see some things that resemble something else that they think they have figured out and hence create ways to treat that problem. I see that it is the power of the position they have, the fact that they fear admitting that there way of seeing the world is not the only way. They fear looking less than ‘all knowing’. They are not gods of the phsychie, and there ascertions are truly troubling if it resembles a wider approach to autism from that community.

AS usual the education system that gives them there framework for understading the world, has done well to create robots that repeat the garbage that is passed as education…. educate people on how to think freely, and you will find we resolve many more of our problems, and naturally not subject our children and our bodies to the toxins that are in our food, water, medications (esp vaccines). This system is the higher super structure for our present reality. The system is aiming toward discredditing the family structure as the healthiest and most natural structure of raising children, and eventually through many forms and tricks upon us, will try to claim that the children are safer institutionalized and cared for by the state or should we say teh super state….. At that point the rest of us will be obsolete, and the fragile and open minds of our children will be twisted into a level of compliance and slavery that we cant comprhend. This is shocking!!!! I live in Scotland, but come from Poland and couldn’t believe what I was seeing and hearing. I’m doing a PhD on transitions to adulthood for people with ASD and was told to watch this documentary by one of my respondents with AS who was outraged by what he saw.
I feel sick… these people cant be called doctors, not even professionals…

What happened to Liberty, Equality and Fraternity in French courtrooms?
They blame the mother for being depressed during or after pregnancy. The French think the child with autism wants to stay in the uterus in the egg and therefore has little need for speech or for eye contact. Bettelheim associated psychoanalysis with autism more than 50 years ago when.. quote “no one cared for autistic children” Duh… as if they care now!!! It seems Lacan was very knowledgeable about psychotherapy and decided he wasn’t going to go down when the rest of the world rejected it having any meaning with regards to autism. The father is seen as predominantly superior because he has a penis. I wonder why French have to make everything sexual! Smells like S**t to me! Why? because the French psycho analysts ignore the fact that girls are on the autism spectrum as well as boys! Apparently the mother is whimsical. These psyco analysts are playing games with the autists lives i.e. no results to show for their so called “work”. Not only that but they also intervene with no respect to the parents of autists in their institutions.

I understand this documentary has been stopped by the French courts, as some of the analyst claim to be misquoted and also misrepresented. So maybe there is more to this then meets the eye, editing and the ear.
I don’t know what psychoanalysts, say about how to treat autism, but it has made me seek out more knowledge.
From my understanding of Lacanian psychoanalyis, many of the core issues treated in psychoanalysis do involve the relationship with primary caregiver (normally Mum), the paternal metaphor (not just Dad but drivers such as career, etc) and how the infant (or subject) chooses to makes meaning. But it is far more complicated than this. Much more.
I have just read about this in an article here in France in “Sciences et Avenir” so hope i can see the film. It is incredible that France (alone in the world with Argentina) keeps this blaming-other psychoanalytic treatment (NO education) under the influence of present Psychanalyts with great power , as we see from the banning.

Anyone who thinks that ‘The Wall’ gives an accurate representation of psychoanalytic theory and/or practice needs to do some serious homework.
Many of the psychoanalysts interviewed in the film do not reject their say and think it highlights the underpinnings of their theories.

The film is no longer available officially as censorship is still in place until appeal and as the copyright holder has decided to remove any authorization under legal threat. Illegal copies have been seen on Rutube and other places though.
