The Regional Court of Lille released its verdict yesterday Thursday Jan. 26, 2012 under an emergency ruling.
“The Wall” is censored and banned. The court has ordered Sophie Robert to remove the speech of the three plaintiffs from her movie. Furthermore, the court orders Sophie Robert to withdraw her movie from the internet. Otherwise she will have to pay 100 EUR per day to the plaintiffs.
Sophie Robert and her sole-proprietorship company “Océan Invisible Productions” are sentenced pay to at least 40 000 EUROS in damages and lawyers fees to the plaintiffs.
Sophie Robert has decided to appeal. Yet, she has to pay immediately the amount due.

French court’s decision was a regrettable decision. I am impressed with the power of psychoanalytical lobby in France. Obscurantism alive!
Surreal! My hat off to Sophie Robert.
How can we help you, Sophie?
For now, Sophie is trying to petition the court to delay the payment of financial claims. We will have more news by the end of the month and decide what should be done to help her.
What has happened? I have only just read about this film and the terrible behaviour of the psychoanalysts in treating autism. They win the case? The court blames Sophie for exposing it? Just like Wikileaks, the criminals go on, the exposer is punished.
They won the case in first court on Jan. 26th 2012. The documentary is censored in France and can no longer be aired or on the internet. We fought but Sophie’s lawyer himself requested to remove it from our website and from youtube to comply with the court decision. The case is pending appeal (Sept or Oct likely).
I am an American school psychologist married to a French citizen. I have always wondered where students or individuals with autism are in France. When traveling in France, I don’t think I have ever seen a child with Down Syndrome out and about. Let alone an individual with Autism.
My case load is made up of individuals who have austim and the range of their abilities is as individualized and unique. I have students who attend university, work, live alone ranging to students who require life long support for most activities.
I have to say I was shocked to hear of “packing” and or the”blame the mother/family” as still being credible practices in France for a neurological condition.
Where can I see the movie? I would like to add that the ABA, applied behavior analysis approach is just one on many techniques used when working with students with austim. You might find searching the web for evidence based practices helpful.
Sincerely,
Shana Shea d’Alton
We definitely believe that ABA is just one of the methods and that evidence based practices must prevail. Yet, many french psychiatrists are opposed to any such method currently.
The info is very unique.
