DETAIL

Sophie Robert will speak about the court decision released earlier that day, about her film, and the role of psychoanalysis in the dramatic situation of Autism in France. Sophie will release some exclusive footage never seen before at this press conference.

David Heurtevent will provide background information about the”culture of abuse” in autism in France. David will launch at this press conference an international petition to pressure France to take decisive action to end abuse of autistics in France.

Sophie Robert

Sophie Robert is the author of the French documentary “The Wall or Psychoanalysis put to the test for Autism” on the misuse of psychoanalysis in Autism in France. The film is sued currently by psychoanalysts in France. The court decision is expected earlier that day (January 26th 2012). The next day, she will show her movie at the 2012 International Autism Conference in Philadelphia.

An article has been published in the New York Times on Jan. 19 and in the paper edition of the International Herald Tribune on the Jan, 20. An article has been published by WBUR (NPR Boston) and BBC 4 (UK).

David Heurtevent

David Heurtevent is an autism self-advocate from France. He is the co-founder of “Support the Wall – Autism: Help Stop Abuse of Autistics in France” and the spokesperson in France of “Collectif Soutenons Le Mur et Défendons les Droits de la Personne Autiste en France” (Support the Wall and Defend the Rights of Persons with Autism in France), a new organization regrouping some of the largest autism organizations in France supporting the film “The Wall” and promoting immediate change in autism in France. Prior joining “Support The Wall”, David was a postgraduate student in ABA at Cardiff University (UK). He holds: an MA from Georgetown University‘s Walsh School of Foreign Service; a MBA (Finance); and a MS in Agriculture Engineering. He has studied and volunteered in Public Health in California. He is admitted next year to the postgraduate program in autism at the University of Birmingham (UK). He also volunteers with children with special needs in daycamps and is licensed to work with kids with special needs in France.

  1. The conditions did permit, and we did see the press conference.

    I had heard a lot about the social security agreements with Belgium, that 700 children might get an ABA type place and of course the psychoanalysts.

    I did not come for the actual screening of The Wall, but I might have heard the announcement of the court decision and the conference.
