Support The Wall – Le Mur

A project of Autism Rights Watch against censorship in France

Following the court decision of January 26, 2012 against Sophie Robert, the attorney Nicolas Benoit, representing Sophie Robert and her company Ocean Invisible Productions, formally summoned “Support the Wall – Autism” on February 22, 2012 to remove the video of the documentary “The Wall” and all excerpts from supportthewall.org, soutenonslemur.org and from the Youtube account of Soutenons Le Mur. Despite a conditional acceptance of the site editor, Mr. Benoit sent a request on March 28, 2012 to Youtube to withdraw the material and Youtube deleted the content immediately.

For some time, Autism Rights Watch, a new non-profit organization incorporated in the State of Delaware, had been editing the websites of “Support The Wall” and “Soutenons Le Mur”.

If Autism Rights Watch understands the dire situation of censorship faced by Sophie Robert, the organization is saddened by the fact that French Intellectual Property Code can be exploited to enforce a censorship court decision on foreign soil. Yet Autism Rights Watch will not challenge this decision and will instead reorganize “Soutenons Le Mur” and “Support The Wall”. Autism Rights Watch has decided to freeze soutenonslemur.org and to clarify its legal situation. The documentary and excerpts will no longer be available for the time being on http://www.soutenonslemur.org nor on http://www.supportthewall.org.

Autism Rights Watch continues to refuse censorship and will continue to make sure that people outside of France have access to information about Autism in France.

David Heurtevent, spokesperson of “Collectif Soutenons Le Mur”, leave the Collectif immediately to focus exclusively on Autism Rights Watch, Inc.

Details of the complete background of the decision and changes of governance and organization are available on http://www.soutenonslemur.org

Please note the following important changes for “Support The Wall – Autism”:

  •  “Support The Wall – Autism” becomes “Autism Rights Watch – Project France”,
  • The Facebook page “Support The Wall – The Wall” will be closed on April 1, 2012.
  • The Youtube account of Soutenons Le Mur will be closed before March 31, 2012.
  • The Twitter account @Soutenonslemur will be administered only in English and taken over by Autism Rights Watch,
  • The domain names soutenonslemur.org and supportthewall.org will be donated by David Heurtevent to Autism Rights Watch, Inc and the domain name will become the exclusive property of Autism Rights Watch.

More important, the international petition, launched from the United States in January 2012, against Human Rights infringements in Autism in France will be taken over directly by the parent organization. These changes are expected to occur over the coming days and the official website of Autism Rights Watch should also be launched in the coming weeks.
